Refund and Returns Policy

At McKee Homestead, we take pride in raising and producing food with care, consistency, and intention. Because we sell perishable farm products, our refund and return policy is designed to reflect the realities of fresh food while still treating customers fairly and honestly.


Perishable Farm Products

Most of what we sell is perishable, including meat, eggs, and seasonal farm goods. For food safety reasons, we are unable to accept returns on these items once they leave our farm.

This is standard practice for farms and small food producers.


Meat Chickens and Frozen Products

All poultry and meat products are sold as final sale once processed and picked up.

We do not accept returns or exchanges due to:

  • Change of mind
  • Storage issues after pickup
  • Improper handling or thawing after the product leaves our care

We are committed to providing high-quality, properly processed products and encourage customers to inspect their order at pickup.


Duck Eggs

Due to the nature of fresh eggs, all egg sales are final.

If there is ever an issue with quality at the time of pickup or delivery, we ask that you contact us immediately so we can address it.


Chicken Shares and Reservations

Deposits or reservations for seasonal chicken shares are typically non-refundable, as they are used to plan feed, processing, and production schedules.

If you are unable to pick up your order, please contact us as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to work with you on a solution depending on timing and availability.


Refunds for Product Issues

While we do not accept general returns, we will always stand behind the quality of what we sell.

If there is a legitimate issue with your order at the time of pickup, such as:

  • Incorrect order fulfillment
  • Noticeable product quality concerns
  • Damaged product at time of pickup

Please contact us within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your order.

We may offer, at our discretion:

  • Replacement product (if available)
  • Store credit
  • Partial or full refund depending on the situation

We handle these on a case-by-case basis.


Weather, Processing, and Farm Realities

Farming and food production involve variables outside of our control, including weather, animal growth rates, and processing schedules.

Because of this, we reserve the right to adjust pickup dates or availability when necessary. In these cases, we will communicate clearly and work with customers to reschedule or provide options.

We are a small, family-run homestead. Everything we sell is raised and handled with care, and we stand behind the quality of our food.

At the same time, we ask for understanding that farm products are not the same as retail shelf goods. They come from living systems, seasonal cycles, and real-world conditions.
